Casa Prado
Casa Prado’s founder Carolina Prado is an award winning & Gold Star private skin care therapist. She has over 10 years experience delivering results-driven procedures for prestigious salons, A-List celebrities and private clientele. Together with her cousin Emma Prado, they deliver a luxury home spa with treatments such as Environ & Caci facials, holistic therapies and the most beautiful set of lashes!
Let’s start at the beginning. How do you know each other?
Carolina : We are cousins from our fathers’ side – the Spanish side. Also we became neighbours after I moved here from Colombia. We attended the same primary school, our relationship has always been more like sisters even now. We both have daughters of same age Ciana & Sofia.
Where did the idea to start Casa Prado come from?
Emma : My cousin Carolina. She has always been very focused and business minded with a clear vision of where she is headed.
Carolina : We have always been a mobile home service going to people’s homes and sometimes their office. In 2016 we rebranded from Prado Home Spa to Casa Prado. The name Prado is both our surnames and because of our Spanish heritage we changed it to casa which translates to “home”.
Have you always worked in the beauty industry?
Carolina : My passion has always been beauty, cooking and travel. At university I studied travel and business at the same time training in beauty at the LCBT in soho. It was clear after I finished university that beauty came so naturally to me. Beauty is a huge industry and I sampled so many of its branches from makeup artist, tanning, laser, nails, eye treatments, facials to holistic therapies until I found what I loved the most; which is skin science and that’s when I discovered Environ in 2012, so it has been a long and educational beauty journey.
Emma : After my GCSE’s I really wanted to go on and do beauty at further education but was encouraged by teachers to take up regular A-levels. After completing these I still felt the same so I went back and did my beauty training. Carolina being older had now already been working in the industry for a while and secured me my first job working in a Gold Star salon where we trained and used products by Clarins and Shiseido. Over the coming years I worked in other leading salons in London and trained in additional services which is where I found my real love and passion in eyelash extensions.
What’s the most challenging aspect of your business?
Carolina : Managing time! You can only see so many people in your day, so efficient time planning is key.
Emma : 1. Logistics. 2. Harder eye shapes or shorter/sparser lashes but this is a challenge I enjoy and feel confident with.
What do you find most rewarding about your job?
Carolina : We are constantly training and attending seminars therefore educating our clients on their skin, so when they tell you what they need its really rewarding.
Emma : Making women feel good about themselves. No one can deny how amazing a great set of lashes can make us feel!
Is there a must-have therapy you would recommend to all clients?
Carolina : We bespoke all our treatments to each client’s needs, even our massages are totally bespoke! But my favourite for results are the ‘peels’.
Emma : Something to enhance the eye area is always a must-have. Whether it be an eyelash tint to open the eyes, a brow tint and shape to frame the face or a set of eyelash extensions to feel fabulous every day.
What in your beauty regime could you not go without?
Carolina : My 30s have been all about double cleansing starting with oil (something I never would have done in my 20s) I could not live without vitamin A and C moisturisers!
Emma : Eyebrows, lashes and moisturiser!
What more do you have in store for Casa Prado?
Carolina : Recently we created a fantastic online spa shop for advance nutrition programme vitamins and Jane Iredale skincare make up, all complimentary to our brand. We will be placing Environ skincare on there soon. We want to grow locally as we love all things to do with a community.
Emma : In the last 5 years the brow and lash market has become huge and working with so many other brand tools has taught us what we like and dislike so possibly developing our own kits we can then sell on our spa shop.
