Recently opened to the public as one of London’s most exciting and innovative new destinations, there is no better time than now to visit this iconic building and to also experience the magical Light Festival. Battersea Power Station Light Festival features eight spectacular illuminated installations by international artists that light up the Grade-II listed building. Look out for Atelier Haute Cuisine’s massive bath plug – not just a fun quirky installation but a very important nod to water waste, the enormous toy slinky by Studio Vertigo which curves around the power station building and ‘Eternal Sundown’ by Mads Vegas, which uses 140 energy-saving LED tubes to create a post-apocalyptic sunset along the Coaling Jetty. If you are feeling peckish, rest assured, there is plenty to choose from the many food stands dotted about from the likes of Fondue Power, Queen of Crêpes and Roti King. Fancy a whole day and evening out? Battersea Power Station now offers over 90 retail outlets, a cinema, delicious eateries and more…!

This beautifully written and gorgeously illustrated book was inspired by Katherine’s desire to write about the world’s most wondrous creatures. Each short chapter tells a vivid story about a specific species: where facts come to life in the most captivating way. Did you know that the golden mole is the only iridescent mammal that literally shines gold? Or that a pangolin’s tongue is as long as its body? Or that in order to wash itself, the Swift will find a cloud and slowly fly through the raindrops, wings outstretched. Fascinating! This book is a triumph of the magnificent, intricate and powerful world we live in, whilst highlighting the inescapable fact that these astonishing creatures are in peril and that time is running out.

Check out Art 4 Fun in West Hampstead, a perfect place for all ages to get creative and hide away from the colder days. With an abundance of blank ceramics to choose from and all the paints and utensils included in the price, this is a perfect place to therapeutically while away time alone or book a table and come with friends and family to get creative together. Easy-to-do techniques are on hand and once your decorated item has been glazed and fired, you will have your masterpiece to take home.

We are so blessed and lucky to have Hampstead Heath on our doorstep and what better way to end (or start!) a lovely Heath walk is to stop by at the Creperie de Hampstead. Locals describe it as an “institution”. The menu is packed with so many different pancake flavour options, sweet and savoury, you will not leave this curbside kiosk disappointed. Delicious and filling! Also worth noting that right next door is the King William IV pub.. Another great spot to rest and refresh!
