Morty & Bob´s
Affectionately named after owner Charlie Phillips' grandads, Morty & Bob's started as a grilled cheese sandwich stall in Netil Market and has expanded to Kings Cross, Westfield and now Kensal Green. Its Kensal branch is located in the heart of the ever popular College Road and it was here QPF popped in to enjoy a midweek lunch. Occupying the space between bistro and diner, with a real neighbourhood joint feel, the burgundy exterior gives way to a warm interior - all cosy lighting and white tiles. The friendly staff greeted us and we couldn’t wait to see what this new kid on the block had to offer.
The menu covers all the comforting classics you’d want: burgers, schnitzels, pasta, steak & eggs. There’s salmon & lentil, or grain bowls for those more mindful of new year resolutions. And a comprehensive and well priced kids menu. But, it was their signature grilled cheese sandwiches that we went for. Served on ‘crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside’ artisan sourdough, and oozing with aged cheddar, the pickles and pastrami cut through our New York style classic. We shared an indulgent side of parmesan and truffle fries and the above mentioned grain bowl with roasted greens, hummus, avocado, cashew chilli oil and poached egg. Our healthy juice was fresh and flat white velvety

The place was busy and bustling, and the atmosphere warm, and we spotted a couple of dishes we would go for next time - flat iron steak with chimichurri I mean you - perhaps as an evening out with cocktails to start. Yes, Morty & Bob’s already felt like a great addition to our neighbourhood.
