Alice House

Walking through the pub the atmosphere was breezy and relaxed and once seated by the friendly staff, and having saved ourselves for proper lunch, everything on the menu looked tempting.

 We kicked things off with a starter of a creamy burrata and a yummy homemade hummus paired with tasty toasted bread. I opted for the roast beef with Yorkshire puddings, generously doused in rich gravy, accompanied by cabbage and carrot. The topside was tasty and tender, potatoes were crisp and crunchy and the carrots in particular were just as you’d want them – with a bit of resistance, a hint of honey and a lot of flavour. My husband went for the roast pork belly, also with fluffy Yorkshire puddings, plus the same sides – his plate was returned completely empty, which says it all! Our youngest enjoyed the kids’ Sunday roast chicken, while our eldest savored what he declared the juiciest burger he’d ever tasted.

 Due to the generous portions we just about had room to share some flavoursome coconut and vanilla ice creams.

So the food was great, but as for the whole Alice House experience, the staff were attentive, and super helpful, the pub had a lovely Sunday vibe and with a mixed crowd it felt really open and inclusive. Great for both families and friends, and not somewhere we had been for a while, it felt like the perfect spot to settle in and lose track of time and enjoy another gem of Queen’s Park.
